My Breeding pens!
I currently have 5 breeding pens and 3 hutches and 5 indoor brooders
Pen 1 is an all black pen with a Showgirl Male over 7 Silkie hens. (This pen will produce both Silkies and Showgirls in Black only)
Pen 2 is my whites with a silkie male over 2 Silkies and 2 Showgirls (there are some blues and blacks girls growing up in this pen) This pen will produce Silkies and Showgirls in White more Silkies than Showgirls at this time. I can almost tell the Showgirl eggs from the Silkie eggs.
Pen 3 is my black Glenn See Cock over 5 B/B/S Showgirl hens and pullets (This pen will produce both Silkie and Showgirls in Blue and Black)
Pen 4 is currently empty
Pen 5 is a blue silkie male over 7 b/b/s Silkies and Showgirls with my black Showgirl male visiting this pen once weekly. This pen will produce both NN and Nn Showgirls and Silkies in B/B/S.

Crossroads of America 10/30/11 held in Indy. The story of my White Showgirls!
So Indy was fun a bit stressful but full of surprises. I took BV with all the Showgirls my black went all the way to 3rd admittedly she was very young but the only one not molting or broody. My best blue got marked for wings and I will never figure that one out. Seems like every other cage was marked something about the wings. My other blue took 5th. I had the opportunity to meet Sheryl Butler whom I have admired for years for her work with the Showgirls. I walked right up and gave her a big ole hug. I inquired why she did not have her birds in the Show pens and she said "if I wanted to pick some and get them ready I could show them". So that is what I did. The Silkies were not being judged till Saturday anyway. I then spent the next 3-4 hours trying desperately to get white birds (whom I have never worked with and did not have the proper supplies) in show shape. I was trying hard to make Sheryl proud of me. Skip on to Saturday judging. I had ask Jamie Matt's to judge the Showgirls against one another. Well I shot myself in the foot with that one. I got beat with the whites I had just pulled from Sheryl's pen and conditioned on Friday. Yes I was crying. It about broke my heart. I truly felt like I had been punched in the gut. I work so hard on my B/B/S and it hurt. I will tell you my girls were looking the best I have ever seen them. Sheryl even went as far to comment on the condition my birds were in. Mind you I busted my ass getting them clean and every feather in the exact place I wanted it. So anyway I go back to tell Sheryl of the win (She also seemed a bit surprised that her birds beat mine) and she gifts me the white birds I that just beat my B/B/S. I had not planned on ever working with whites but what a gift. So we then leave to get some food and fresh air! When we get back I am still kinda sick over not getting Best Showgirl so I don't even bother walking down the isle. Well my friend Judy Lee walks over and ask Jamie if he plans on crowning a best AOV. Now this is second hand from Judy but he said. . . . . "I already have! It went to the White Showgirl and that's the way it should be!" As I type this I am still overcome with emotions. So Judy tells me and I go check the row and wouldn't you know it a Big ole Champion AOV ribbon on the White pullet Sheryl had just gifted me. I am in absolute shock. The Showgirls beat the Silkies at Nationals. Let me say that again. THE SHOWGIRLS BEAT THE SILKIES AT NATIONALS. Showgirls I picked. I conditioned! And ultimately brought home with me. Along with 2 others Sheryl allowed me to pick making it 4 total. This will be one day I won't soon forget. I think this big win came at a critical time for Showgirl enthusiast. While everyone is talking about "which will be the next variety we work towards getting accepted". If we can do it at Nationals we are ready. We have the records and I am sure we can get the numbers for a qualifying meet.
If you made it to the end of this story thank you. Sorry it was so long.
A big thank you to Sheryl Butler for all you have done in the past (when I first discovered the SG breed your name was the first to pop up) and what you just did for me at Indy. You have been and and continue to be one of the brightest star in my chicken world. I look forward to working with the whites you so graciously gifted me. Big hugs. I truly feel honored.
Warm Regards,
Tisha

Introducing Edward
This is Edward, the blue showgirl. I can not tell you how excited I am to add him to my flock. What a looker! I hope he does well with the girls.
Edward, his Mom, and Bella
So pix 1-4 are of Edward, Pix 5 is his mother, and pix 6 & 7 are of Bella both purchased from Jen. Pix 8 & 9 are of Edwards comb, if you can find it, because it is so very dark. Look hard, it is there, but barely. I do not have the mother here the pix is simply for you to see the quality of his Mother. Edward and Bell should be here on 11/03. I can't get over how great he is, or how much he has grown. I am so tickled to have him.
